Behavioural Health Consultant

What is a Behavioural Health Consultant?

The role of the Behavioural Health Consultant (BHC) is primarily to focus on behavioural health strategies and interventions to assist patients in improving their day-to-day functioning. BHC works with patients of all ages. In addition, the BHCs will evaluate the necessity for extra assistance and, when necessary, direct patients to PCN programs. They will also guide, refer, or offer information to patients about community resources that are better equipped to address their specific needs.

How will BHC help?

Most BHC appointments are up to 30 minutes in length. You will be asked questions about physical symptoms, emotional concerns, behaviours, and how these affect your day-to-day functioning. The BHC will work with you and your health team to create a treatment plan and arrange a follow-up appointment if needed.
