Primary Care Nurse Location: Wetaskiwin, AB Permanent (0.6 – 0.8 FTE)
The Wetaskiwin Primary Care Network (WPCN) is a physician-led non-profit corporation that works collaboratively with Alberta Health Services and our community partners to support primary care in Wetaskiwin and surrounding area.
The Wetaskiwin Primary Care Network (WPCN) seeks to fill a 0.6 – 0.8 FTE Primary Care Nurse position.
Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, the Primary Care Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing services to the patient population within the Network. The Nurse will assess, manage, and support patients, provide appropriate documentation, and will work collaboratively with the healthcare team members to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans. The Primary Care Nurse will work to full scope of practice, emphasizing comprehensive care, education, and guidance to the patient population. Duties will vary depending on the clinic, clinical programs, and patient population.
The Primary Care Nurse will work with family physicians in the community, other health professionals, local and regional programming in a multi-disciplinary environment to ensure a high quality of evidence-based health care to the practice population. Depending upon the needs of the WPCN programs, the Primary Care Nurse duties and tasks will shift across various programs within the WPCN and its affiliated clinics.
Our ideal candidate has:
•A Degree in Nursing from an accredited Educational Institution.
· An active registration with the CRNA.
· Current BLS.
· Pre-natal nursing experience is an asset.
· CDE and CRE certification is an asset.
• 3 years nursing experience – primary care/community nursing, Gerontology, Chronic Disease Mental Health, Women’s Health is desirable.
· First Nation’s/Aboriginal population experience is an asset.
• Strong organizational/time management skills.
· Negotiation and advocacy skills.
· Knowledge and comfort with Exchange, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Netcare, EMR (CHR & MedAccess).
• Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent oral, written, communication skills.
• A professional work ethic, displaying a high level of confidentiality and integrity.
This position reports to the Clinical Manager of the Wetaskiwin Primary Care Network.
